Jitegemee
Jitegemee, Inc. is an organization in Kenya whos vision is to provide street children with access to formal and vocational education, mentorship, and developmental skills for becoming a productive individual in the Kenyan society. They contacted us to design a new logo for their organization as they felt their current branding needed a slight facelift in order to reflect their forward-thinking approach to their programs. Through their committees guidance we established that they liked their current colors and branding, but wanted their logo to be brought into a more unifying design. Their name is the Swahili word for “sustain yourself” and we knew this ultimately was their adopted slogan. After a few rounds of proofs and edits, the final design maintained the look and feel of their previous one while gently updating their image. The font – although similar – now has softer edges to the letters while the new graphical element of an adult watching over a child with a book visual demonstrates the sense of oversight, mentorship and a sense of cooperation. We kept their pronunciation line below the name, but also shortened it to create better unity among the forms used. We also set up an alternative logo with their new slogan “Empowering Street Children Through Education” as seen on their website.

Having previously worked with Steve on my personal design projects, I was confident that he could help Jitegemee develop a logo that both reflected the current program and allowed for future growth. He delivered! Steve took the time to learn about our organization and provided images that hit the mark. We are extremely pleased with the finished result!
