Clerk’s office to hold 2-hour wedding ceremonies on Thursdays

Starting next week, from Thursday, the Rutherford County Clerks office would perform civil marriage ceremonies just for two hours. The clerks office would perform marriages earlier on Thursdays from 9 am to 11 am, starting from 2nd March, at their offices located on North Maple Street in Murfreesboro and on I Street in Smyrna, told Rutherford County Clerk Lisa Crowell.

The office will go on to grant wedding licenses as needed under the state law. Lisa told that the brand new policy was made months ago to attempt to deal with a developing number of marriage ceremonies at their offices with no extra cost last year.

Crowell said that they sill want to perform this service. They only have to get a handle on this. At times, stuff would prefer to take the couples into the private place that is available to arrange the wedding ceremony – i.e. Crowells personal office.

She told that she really have nowhere to perform the ceremonies. She added that the ceremony is a courtesy and not a requirement for her staff to perform. The Thursdays-only plan is made after the policy brought in by Davidson County Clerks office that also arranges ceremonies on Thursdays. She further added that the 2-hour policy can only be changed only if there are military members.
